This tool covers Barnstable County Registry of Deeds records for the Town of Dennis, 1793 to present. Coverage varies by document type:
Comprehensive
Conservation restrictions, easements, restrictions, covenants, land takings, orders, and votes — the document types most relevant to land use and conservation history. These are collected exhaustively, not sampled.
Partial
Property deeds. You'll find a deed for most parcels, plus any deed where the Town of Dennis itself was a party (buying, selling, or otherwise involved) — but this is not a complete deed history for every property or every owner.
Not included
Most other document types recorded at the Registry — mortgages, liens, discharges, certificates, powers of attorney, and similar financial/administrative filings. These weren't part of this project's scope.
A note on older documents: Records before the mid-20th century are often handwritten, and automated transcription of historical cursive is imperfect — treat search results and extracted text from older documents as a starting point, not a substitute for viewing the original scan.
This is an independent research tool, not an official product of the Registry of Deeds.
